Thanks to the increasing popularity and acceptance of electric vehicles (EVs), Lakeland drivers have more options than ever. Two such options are the 2025 Genesis Electrified GV70, the luxurious electric counterpart to the popular gasoline-powered GV70, and the range-topping Tesla Model Y. Both EVs have great qualities that would benefit any Arlington driver, but they focus on distinct elements of the driving experience.
Keeping to the brand’s luxury-centric nature, the electric Genesis GV70 offers a far more sumptuous and comfortable driving experience than the Tesla Model Y. The latter, by contrast, takes a technology-heavy approach to electrification and offers drivers full self-driving capabilities. Review this Genesis vs. Tesla comparison from Genesis of Wolfchase, and contact us if you have any questions afterward.
As soon as you open the driver-side door of a Genesis GV70 EV, it is immediately apparent that the Korean luxury carmaker did not skimp on the details. From the elegantly crafted steering wheel and perforated leather seats to the exquisite stitching and tasteful aluminum trim, the interior of the electric GV70 exudes elegance—down to the diamond-cut pattern bezel that surrounds the infotainment knob. On both the Advanced and Prestige trims, the interior is available in Glacier White Two-Tone or Black Mono. If you opt for the upper-level Prestige trim, the standard leather upholstery gets replaced by even more luxurious Nappa leather.
By contrast, the interior of the Tesla Model Y presents a technology-forward aesthetic borne of almost austere practicality. No beautiful stitching, carefully considered metallic trim, or bejewled knobs are to be found here. The 15.4-inch center touchscreen is the most prominent feature, and with it, drivers can control everything from infotainment and navigation to climate control. The seats are upholstered in synthetic leather, which may be easier to care for than the plush leather or Nappa leather you can expect with the GV70. The latter will be more comfortable to drive on long trips to and from Collierville.
That said, the Tesla Model Y has several advanced autopilot features that you may be interested in. They include:
Though the electric GV70 is the more beautifully designed and luxury-forward vehicle, it should be noted that the Tesla Model Y does outperform the GV70 in range. The Long-Range RWD variant of the Model Y can travel up to 337 miles on a single charge, while the Genesis GV70 EV maxes out at an EPA-estimated 236 miles. That being said, the GV70 can be charged from 10-80% in ~18 minutes at a 350kW/800V DC Ultra-Fast Charger, which compares relatively favorably with the charging speed of the Model Y. The latter enables you to add up to 170 miles of range in 15 minutes.
Of course, keep in mind that Genesis drivers will have access to the Tesla Supercharger Network starting this year (2025). Considering both vehicles can utilize the same charging infrastructure and charge at similar speeds, the reduced range of the Genesis GV70 may be less of an impediment to your luxurious electric future than you may initially believe.
Finally, safety-minded drivers should consider the Genesis GV70 for its ample active safety features. Compare the standard active safety features for both EVs below:
